John has also written an
illustrated operational history of the USS
Saratoga (CV-3), the first American ship
launched as an aircraft carrier.
John is the
founder of the
Pacific Beach Historical Society, has written a
book on that community's Crystal Pier, and --
with Nancy Wingo -- has authored two pictorial books on Pacific Beach.
A 1962 graduate of San
Diego's Will C. Crawford High School, John
maintains contact with his classmates and other Crawford
Alumni with his weekly Fry Day emails, Colt Corral blog, and Crawford Alumni Facebook page.
