Most San Diegans will immediately recognize the El Cortez Hotel in the foreground of this aerial photo, and the Cabrillo Bridge and California Tower in the background.  Eighth Avenue runs from the lower right corner of the shot, behind the El Cortez, and on into Balboa Park.  You can't do that today.  This photo was taken before the I-5 freeway was built through downtown.  That may have occurred in 1964.
