A gift to the city from businessman George
Marston, the Presidio was formally dedicated on July 16, 1929, the
160th anniversary of the founding of the original Mission San Diego de
Alcalá at that site by Father Junipero Serra. By the looks of the car at the right, the photo was probably taken in the 1930s.
