This house at 864 Garnet was razed to create more parking for Diego's, today's PB Bar and Grill

The Roxy Theater opened on December 16, 1943 and was destroyed to make way for the Pacific Beach Post Office in the early 1980s

This photo, according to my records, was actually shot on May 10, 1981. It shows Mary Christian Heising and friends protesting the temporary closure of Ocean Blvd. to auto traffic. Mary feared the temporary closure would become permanent -- and she was right
