Rolando Village Sales Signs • 1940

(Posted by Mike Cunningham on Greg May's Vintage San Diego Facebook page)
Looking east on El Cajon Boulevard from perhaps Rolando Boulevard.  Mount Helix is clearly visible at the right.  The junction where Montezuma splits off from El Cajon can be seen in the middle between the two signs.  I'm not quite sure what that is on the left.

Montezuma Rd didn’t go to El Cajon Blvd until sometime in the early to mid 1950s.  When we moved onto West Falls View Drive in 1952, Montezuma was a wide dirt road.  The things you see behind the sign on the left looks more like a plot of land with their animals.  There were still several homes with horses around our area even in 1954.  It was very rural in many ways just beyond the housing tracts -- Barbara Bright Wilder ’62
