Taken
from Mission Cliff Gardens in University
Heights, this spectacular Lee Passmore photo
looks south on North Avenue to the distant
Normal School in 1916. Supposedly Adolph
Spreckels built the park to encourage folks
to visit aboard the San Diego Electric
Railway (streetcar), which he also owned.
The park is gone, but you can strill drive
around the little plaza at the center of the
photo. It's north of the intersection of
Park Blvd. and Adams Avenue. (San Diego
History Center photograph)
